The POD Specialist is responsible for authorization management of non-emergency transports. POD Specialists work with Communications, Operations, payors, and billing to ensure appropriate paperwork is obtained before or around the time of the patient’s transport.

Summary /   Responsibilities :

• Work with Communications to provide guidance on non-emergency transports and required paperwork and / or authorizations.
• Review non-emergency transports to identify appropriate payor and determine if an authorization is required.
• Follow established processes to request and / or obtain authorizations for non-emergency transports.
• Work with Communications to ensure adequate and appropriate levels of service are dispatched for non-emergency transports.
• Manage Authorization work bin to ensure payor requirements are met.
• Process customer complaints quickly by receiving, investigating, redirecting or, resolving the issue.
• Develop and sustain excellent working relationships with AMR professionals (e.g., Operations, Business Development, IT and Finance), as well as with the Company’s clients, payors, consultants, banks and financial intermediaries and government agencies.
