Summary :

The Journeyman Electrician plans, lays out , installs and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus and controls equipment, as well as directing and training Electrician Helpers to do the same.

Essential Duties :

• Electrical Safety – work safely around the hazards associated with electricity. Select the proper applications for different types of voltages (i.e. 24, 120,240,480,600,12,800 61kv
• Electrician Tools – use hand, electric, pneumatic and hydraulic tools in a safe manner.
• P&ID / Blue Print Reading – Correctly reads and understands plans, isometrics, arrangement drawings, details, specifications, erection manuals and / or blue prints and makes competent decisions based on measurable criteria.
• Working knowledge of National Electric Code and full understanding of NFPA 70e
• Have sound knowledge of, understand and use Lock-out tag-out procedures
• Identify conduit and hardware
• Measure, cut and thread conduit
• Pull cable and wire conduit
• Identify cable tray and hardware
• Fabricate and install hangars and brackets
• Mount junction boxes
• Figure, cut and install cable tray with offsets
• Perform cad weld grinding
• Figure offsets, bend and install conduit
• Identify types and sizes of wire, cable insulation and color code of multi-conductor
• Identify electrical meters and instruments
• Install ground lugs
• Install lugs on 4 / 0 and larger cable
• Read wire / cable schedules
• Other duties by trade and assigned by supervisor
