Weekday mornings and / or early evenings. Possible weekends. We will work around your school schedule.

Position Summary / Job Duties :

Looking for a a kind and reliable college student to work as a caregiver for our 28-year-old son with autism who lives about a 15-minute drive from campus. Having a car is required.

Examples of outings : walks on local trails; exercise at UW recreational facilities; making art at Memorial Union Wheelhouse Studios; and visits to the libraries, shops, and other community spaces.

Our son's strengths include his unique sense of humor, his peaceful nature, and his enthusiasm for going to new places. He is easily overwhelmed by unexpected stimuli, and is adaptable when given the right support. Given his challenges with safety awareness, it is essential for him to have one-to-one supervision. Paid training provided.

This position may be of particular interest to students in Rehabilitation Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, Communicative Disorders, or Nursing. For Rehab Psych students this could become a paid internship for the Spring 2026 semester.

Funding is provided by the "IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct)" program for adults with disabilities and elderly people in Wisconsin.

Qualifications :

Essential : Arriving on time.

Physical Demands

Must be able to run to catch up with our son if he runs ahead of you.
