HOURLY RANGE : $18.464 - $23.978
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS : The work involves providing direct care to patients in a
medical / surgical setting at the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). The incumbent performs direct patient and assists nursing personnel in accommodating patient needs and maintaining continuity of care provided. Work is performed under the direct supervision of a higher-ranking nursing employee. Supervision is not a function of this position. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES :
Provides post-mortem care.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS :
Good knowledge of nursing standards in accepted patient care; working knowledge of standard precautions and infection control precautions; skill in performing and demonstrating nursing techniques; demonstrates concern and caring for patients; ability to locate, operate and set-up patient care related equipment; ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse constituency; sound professional judgment; capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
A.)
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare setting; or :
B.)
Possession of thirty (30) semester credit hours from a school of professional nursing
C.)
Completion of a course of study in a school of practical nursing approved by the New York State Education Department; or :
D.)
Completion of a certificate program as a medical assistant, medical office assistant or closely related program from a college
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT :
Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from an ECMCC approved provider within sixty (60) days of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.

NOTE 2 : Verifiable part-time and / or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
