Role Overview

As a Java Full Stack Tech Lead you will serve as a critical Player-Coach for Union Pacifics enterprise application landscape. You will be responsible for driving the technical roadmap-specifically moving systems from Java 8 to Java 17 -while managing delivery timelines and leading a distributed team. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical architectural knowledge and the ability to manage the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership : Architect and develop robust scalable back-end services using Java 17 and Spring Boot.

Front-End Excellence : Lead the development of modern user interfaces using Angular.

Project Management : Act as the primary point of contact for project delivery managing timelines budgets and resource allocation.

Global Team Management : Oversee and mentor offshore development teams to ensure code quality and project alignment.

Database Management : Design and optimize complex SQL queries and schemas within an Oracle environment.

System Integration : Implement messaging and integration patterns using JMS IBM MQ or Apache Camel to ensure seamless data flow across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications

Expertise in Java : 7 12 years of experience with Core Java (Advanced fundamentals Multithreading Streams) including specific experience with Java 8 and Java 17 .

Framework Proficiency : Deep expertise in Spring Boot and Angular (v2).

Leadership Experience : 2 3 years of experience in a Tech Lead or Project Management capacity.

Database Skills : Strong mastery of SQL and Oracle Database optimization.

Agile Mastery : Proven experience working within a Scrum / Agile environment including managing backlogs and sprints in Jira .

Soft Skills : Exceptional analytical problem-solving and communication skills are mandatory for stakeholder management.

Preferred (Nice to Have) Skills

Experience with Integration Tools : IBM MQ Apache Camel or JMS.

Knowledge of Search Technologies : Elasticsearch or OpenSearch.

Clustering / Sync experience with JGroups .

Previous experience working within Union Pacific (UPC) systems or the Transportation / Logistics domain.

Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or PMP.
