District Wide Job Summary:

• Teach American Red Cross swim classes, from pre-school swim program through Level 6, as well as other instructional swim programs
• Develop and implement lesson plans, test students, and complete student certificates as required by American Red Cross
• If working alone, be prepared to fulfill duties of lifeguard. If working with staff, supervise lifeguards and swim assistants
• Work with swimmers in water as needed
• Operate handicap chair, lift, and rescue equipment as needed
• Respond to emergencies using appropriate first aid
• Teach other non-ARC swim classes or supervise non-instructional swim programs as assigned

Qualifications:

• Current American Red Cross certifications for lifeguarding, CPR, first aid, AED, and Water Safety Instructor
• Ability to work effectively with swimmers of various ages and abilities
• Ability to handle handicap chair, lift, and rescue equipment
• Experience as swim instructor preferred but not required

Working Condition: $18 - more dependent on experience. Hours vary
**Candidates hired for this position will be employed through www.EduStaff.org the educational staffing partner of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools, and will be required to complete a separate Edustaff application and orientation once an employment offer is received.
