Job Description
1. Assist the Physician to monitor and document the health status of residents receiving IMS
services to include: physical exams, vital signs, rating scales, medication inventory and
storage, activities and lab results.
2. Decide when a resident requires emergency or urgent medical care.
3. Document and organize the medication storage and inventory and keep compliance with
all state and federal regulations.
4. Provide ongoing training to facility staff on proper techniques of obtaining vitals and
documenting residents self-reports of pain and other symptoms.
5. Provide ongoing training to facility staff on proper techniques of observing and
documenting residents self-administration of medications, both prescription and over the-counter.
6. Be the primary point-person for communication between the doctors, pharmacies and
facility staff.
7. Receive and follow-up on resident test results in a timely fashion. Send to the Health
Care Practitioner for review.
8. Complete Client Health Questionnaire (DHCS 5103) and pre-screening evaluations within 24
hours of admission and not the Physician hen completed
9. Make a referral for placement if the resident does not meet the criteria for IMS services.
10. Monitor and document the health status of residents receiving IMS services to include: physical
exams, vital signs, detox rating scales, medications, activity level and lab results.
11. Decide when a resident requires emergency or urgent medical care.
Job Qualifications
1. Licensed nurse in good standing in the State of California.
2. Knowledge and working experience dealing with detoxification medications and
substance-use treatment residents.
3. Work within the professional scope of licensing.
