Eaton's Distributed IT Division within the Electrical Sector is seeking a dynamic Engineering Director for their organization to be ideally based in Chicago, Illinois.

What You'll Do :

Job Summary : Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President & General Manager of the Distributed IT Division (D-IT), the Director of Engineering will lead our engineering strategy, product development, and research and development function across our portfolio of power protection, connectivity, and energy infrastructure solutions. As the Director of Engineering, you will have the opportunity to drive innovation, sustaining engineering, and cost optimization across a diverse product portfolio leading a global organization and multiple cross functional teams impacting a $750M revenue business. You will play a critical role in advancing Eaton's digital infrastructure capabilities to support edge computing, data centers, and hybrid IT environments.

Key Job Responsibilities :

• This role will lead a high-performing management team, and their reports of hardware, software / firmware, mechanical, and test engineers globally, fostering a culture of innovation, and continuous learning.
• They will also own the engineering strategy for data center infrastructure solutions, including power high voltage DC power to the rack, in-row cooling, and connectivity products tailored for hyperscale, colocation and enterprise environments.
• This leader will be a successful collaborator with data center customers and internal stakeholders to understand evolving requirements in hyperscale, edge computing, modular solutions, energy efficiency, and remote management conversion.
• The Engineering Director will also oversee all new product development introductions (NPI), ensuring alignment with customer needs, technology trends, and Eaton's vitality and revenue targets.
• They will partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and Product Management to ensure seamless product lifecycle management and customer satisfaction.
• This role will own the initiatives to reduce product costs while maintaining performance and quality.
• Collaborate with Product Management to maintain a technology roadmap, with emphasis on digitalization, energy efficiency, and other technological trends.
• Manage engineering activities across global locations (design, manufacturing, support, etc.), ensuring alignment and knowledge sharing.
• Champion Eaton tools & systems to drive efficiency in engineering practices.
• Ensure D-IT product platforms meet the performance, scalability, and reliability demands of modern data center environments.

The expected median annual salary range for this role is 198,750 - $291,500 a year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
