Job Description
As a P&C Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and ensuring the reliability and safety of electric substations, transmission lines, and generation equipment control systems and fault protection systems. You will work with substation equipment specifications, design protective relay systems, and analyze system ratings to meet new system requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform design relating to electric substation, transmission line, and generation equipment control systems and fault protection systems to ensure reliability and safety.Specify substation equipment using substation ratings to ensure reliability and safety.Design protective relay systems, metering, and SCADA by referencing standards, past projects, new research, regulations, and system requirements.Gather and analyze system ratings by researching substation current conditions and configurations to provide data to reporting agencies and meet new system requirements.Produce detailed system protection and control project scopes and cost estimates to assist in multi-year projects and budget planning.Prepare and study technical drawings and specifications of electrical systems and equipment to ensure installation and operations conform to requirements.Collaborate with designers and technicians to review work and monitor progress to ensure compliance with safety and regulations.Essential Skills
3-5 years of utility experience directly related to electric substation, generation, and transmission line equipment control and fault protection systems.Understanding of basic engineering principles and advanced mathematics.Skills in electric power engineering, including understanding of schematic, wiring, and logic diagrams.Ability to learn major systems in a timely fashion.Knowledge of generation, transmission, and distribution system relays and associated protection schemes.Ability to develop elementary drawings related to system protection designs.Dependable, self-motivated, detail-oriented with excellent organizational and proofreading skills.Ability to work and communicate effectively with other personnel.Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, and databases preferred.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to learn company design philosophy related to protection and control designs.Experience in reviewing and redlining substation protection and transmission line protection and control drawings.Experience creating and reviewing detailed system protection and control project bills of material, cable schedules, and other project documents.Experience with the use of drawing management systems or document management systems like VAULT.Prior experience with AutoCAD.Work Environment
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility in start and end times once established in the position. There is an opportunity for a hybrid schedule with 2 days in the office and 3 days remote. Occasional same-day travel may be required, but not on a weekly basis. Candidates must have transportation and a valid driver's license.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $63.33 / hr.
