PCU Registered Nurse Job Details

Location : Norfolk, VA 23507 (Virginia nursing jobs)

Unit : Medicine Unit 3 – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Assignment Length : 13 weeks (Start : 12 / 29 / 2025 – End : 3 / 30 / 2026)

Shift : 12-hour night shifts

Hours per Week : 36

Employment Type : Travel RN, On-Site

Number of Openings : 4

Estimated Weekly Pay : $1,950 – $2,090

PCU RN Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state preferred)

Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a PCU RN, Telemetry Nurse, or in an acute care setting

Experience caring for patients with CHF, COPD, renal failure, stroke, pneumonia, wounds, and ETOH

Proficient with BIPAP, nurse-driven diuretic protocols, peritoneal dialysis, and IV Glucommander

Ability to independently read and interpret cardiac paper strips

Willingness to float to Telemetry and Med-Surg units as needed

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to Progressive Care Unit patients (nurse-to-patient ratio : 1 : 3-5)

Monitor and assess patients with complex cardiac, respiratory, and renal conditions

Administer advanced therapies and follow nurse-driven protocols

Float to Telemetry and Med-Surg units as required (nurse-to-patient ratio : 1 : 6)

Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Accurately document patient care and clinical interventions in the electronic health record
