Role Overview :
The Program Coordinator is a senior classroom leader who functions as both a Lead Teacher and a mentor / coach for the teaching team. This role models best practices, guides curriculum planning, supports classroom environments across the center, assists with staff onboarding and development, and helps ensure alignment with program values and licensing requirements.
This position is ideal for an experienced educator who loves teaching and supporting other teachers in their growth.
Key Responsibilities :
I. Lead Teacher Responsibilities
Curriculum & Instruction :
- Develop and implement weekly and monthly lesson plans aligned with developmental goals and program standards.
- Provide developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum that supports whole-child learning.
- Conduct ongoing observations and maintain developmental portfolios for each child.
- Differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Support early literacy, math, science exploration, creative expression, and social-emotional development.
- Maintain a visually rich, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
Classroom Leadership :
Maintain a warm, structured, predictable classroom environment.Ensure smooth, safe transitions and daily routines.Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to assistants and aides.Support onboarding and training for classroom assistants.Oversee classroom documentation, cleanliness, organization, and supply needs.Child Safety & Licensing Compliance :
Follow all Title 22 regulations, supervision requirements, and safety procedures.Maintain accurate classroom documentation such as attendance, incident reports, and daily logs.Ensure sanitation, hygiene routines, and emergency procedures are followed every day.Report any concerns regarding child safety or mandated reporting requirements.Family Engagement :
Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding classroom curriculum and child development.Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide developmental updates.Maintain professional, culturally responsive, confidential communication at all times.II. Program Coordinator Responsibilities

Instructional Leadership & Program Support :
Support teachers in planning and implementing curriculum across age groups (0–6 years).Assist with reviewing lesson plans and offering feedback or guidance.Conduct classroom walkthroughs to support quality, consistency, and environment readiness.Help align curriculum practices across classrooms and maintain overall program cohesion.Staff Coaching, Mentorship & Development :
Provide ongoing mentorship, modeling, and coaching to teachers and assistants.Support new teachers with orientation, teaching strategies, and classroom expectations.Offer supportive, strengths-based feedback following observations or classroom support.Guide teachers in classroom management, behavior guidance, documentation, and communication.Help facilitate staff collaboration, reflective discussions, and professional development sessions.Classroom Quality & Environment Enhancement :
Assist teachers with classroom layout, organization, environmental updates, and material selection.Support implementation of high-quality learning environments aligned with program philosophy.Monitor classrooms for safety, readiness, and alignment with licensing and program standards.Team Collaboration & Operational Support :
Provide classroom coverage to help maintain ratios when teachers are out or planning.Communicate classroom needs, concerns, or support requests to the Program Manager / Director.Help coordinate special events, training, enrichment activities, or curriculum initiatives.Uphold and model professionalism, positive culture, and teamwork.Qualifications :
Minimum 24 ECE units, including Infant / Toddler coursework.2–3+ years of teaching experience required; Lead Teacher experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to mentor, model, or coach other educators.Strong knowledge of child development, curriculum planning, classroom management, and Title 22 regulations.Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.CPR / First Aid certification or willingness to obtain after hire.Teacher Permit preferred.Physical Requirements (ADA-Compliant) :
