Job Description : Job Summary :
Provides strategic leadership in digital informational resources and services, digital and print course resources, faculty development, and academic technology used online and in classrooms to support student success and the educational mission of the University. This position directs all aspects of the Library department including planning, budgeting, and personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Direct the operations of the Library and Learning Resource Center to ensure effective and efficient access to information and services online and in-person for students, faculty, and staff located worldwide.
- Lead strategic planning to identify and execute top priorities for digital information resources and services, digital and print course resources, faculty development, learning spaces, and academic technology services to achieve the university's mission, vision, and goals.
- Collaborate with the academic deans and faculty to ensure the quality development of online and in-person library and learning resource center services and resources to support students, faculty, and staff.
- Ensure continuous improvement of departmental processes including initiatives in information literacy, academic technology and learning spaces, faculty development, and course resource initiatives and fulfillment.
- Support the orientation of faculty on the university's curriculum and instructional design processes, and exemplary practices of teaching and learning.
- Promote the availability and importance of library and learning resource center services, throughout the university community by maintaining communication and relationships with key influencers in other departments.
- Oversee the implementation of policies, procedures, and strategic plans for library resources and services, course resource materials, faculty development, and academic technology.
- Manage current year budgets as required, supervise budget requests, and formulate new fiscal year budgets.
- Support regional and specialized accreditation efforts of the university.
- Develop and implement measures to assess, evaluate, and improve department services and resources.
- Interview, hire, coach, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; mentor, reward, and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with CityU policies and applicable laws.

Minimum Qualifications :

ALA-accredited master's degree in library or information science or the foreign equivalent; additional advanced degree at the master's or doctorate level strongly preferred.Evidence of progressively responsible administrative experience with at least seven years of professional library experience.Minimum of four years of experience managing a library system, branch, or department, preferably in an academic institution.Knowledge of current and emerging technologies related to the provision of library and curriculum development services.Knowledge of state and national issues pertaining to the role of the library in higher education.Excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within groups.Proficiency with MS Office products.Experience working in a university environment utilizing a standardized curriculum and a high percentage of practitioner faculty.Knowledge of learning theories, with a particular emphasis on constructivism.Expertise in outcomes-based assessment.Expertise in designing and producing instructional materials to support faculty in all delivery modes.Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (BrightSpace preferred).Experience in face-to-face and online teaching.Demonstrated successful experience supporting faculty in instructional design.Additional Information :

$85,000 - 90,000 / year DOE
