Minimum Qualifications
- Endorsement in the State of Virginia as a reading specialist (masters degree in Reading required)
- Minimum of at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was an important responsibility
- Leadership skills necessary to assist teachers parents and administrators as a
- Familiarity with reading and writing

Nature of Position
Provide professional development coaching and planning focusing on tier 1 reading and writing instructionMaintains and respects confidentiality of student and school personnel informationDesigns and delivers instruction for students small groups and / or classes assigned to achieve desired objectives that reflect the Virginia Standards of Learning and division curriculum guidelines and shows evidence of lesson preparation upon request of administrator (s)Diagnosis individual group and program needs and plans for the appropriate use of time materials technology and resources to promote the development of critical thinking problem solving and performance skillsEvaluates students progress; provides students with specific evaluative feedback; maintains appropriate records and prepares progress information for reportsIdentifies and communicates specific student performance expectations and documents student learning gains using a variety of appropriate assessment instrumentsDifferentiates instruction to meet diverse student needsSelects evaluates and refines a variety of teaching methods and instructional strategies for the active engagement and self-motivation of students and improvement of student learningImplements discipline practices that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staffManages classroom procedures to maximize academic learning time in order to motivate students to achieve maximum potentialWorks collaboratively with other teachers staff administrators parents and community resources to support the success of a diverse student populationTakes responsibility for and participates in a meaningful and continuous process of personal professional developmentComplies with and supports school and division regulations and policiesCommunicates with special education and classroom teachers students student counselors and parents through conferences and other meansParticipates in curriculum development programs faculty committees and student activity sponsorship as requiredProvides support for the special education and classroom teachers in relation to the Standards of Learning remediation acceleration and the district curriculumPerforms related duties as assigned by the administration in accordance with the school / system policies and practicesModels professional moral and ethical standards as well as personal integrity in all interactionsRequired Experience :
