Chief Plumbing Inspector
Performs a variety of routine and complex technical work in connection with his / her duty to enforce all provisions of the building code and related codes.
Reports to : The Building Official
Supervisory responsibilities : Back-up plumbing inspector
Reviews plans and permit applications for plumbing work to be performed for commercial and residential use.
Inspects new and existing plumbing work to ensure compliance with the building code.
Issues verbal and written notices of code violation and citations for building code and town violations.
Assists in resolving complex and sensitive customer service issues in a timely manner, either personally, by telephone or in writing.
Maintains records and documents on customer service issues and resolutions.
Researches problems and complaints regarding commercial and residential plumbing work and code compliance.
Enters inspection results on the departments information system software on a daily basis.
Presents code violation cases to the Code Compliance Special Magistrate.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
Four (4) years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to review and approve plans as authorized by the Board of Rules and Appeals.
Must be certified by the State of Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.
Must meet the licensing qualifications set forth in Article II, Section 8-20 of the Building Code for Chief Plumbing Inspector and have or be able to obtain a certificate from the Miami-Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals as a Chief Plumbing Inspector.
Must have obtained Plumbing Plans Examiner certification by the Miami-Dade County Board of Rules and Appeals.
Must be certified or able to meet the requirements for certification by the United States Green Building Certification Institute (USGBCI) for LEED Green Associate (GA) within the first twelve (12) months of employment.
Must be a non-smoker.
Must be fluent in English.
Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must be prepared and available to work during a hurricane.
A valid State of Florida drivers license with acceptable driving record at time of appointment. This must be maintained throughout employment.
Must complete a background investigation which includes a national criminal history search, drivers license history check, and a drug screening.
