As a Tour Guide with West Point Tours, you'll guide guests through the historic campus of West Point, delivering fascinating insights, highlighting historic landmarks, and ensuring every visitor leaves with a deeper appreciation for this one-of-a kind destination.
Hours: 5-10 hours a week
Starting hourly rate: $19.00
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Organize and check in tourists
- Escort and narrate tours of the West Point Military Base.
- Deliver clear, engaging explanations throughout the tour.
- Serve as a trusted representative of STA and the United States Military at West Point requiring consistent professionalism.
- Engage with customers and client to ensure a positive tour experience; resolve conflict in accordance with training protocols.
- Maintain strict adherence to tour timing; Adjust tours to keep within required timeframes despite unforeseen circumstances.
- Manage schedule accuracy.
- Attend all training sessions and successfully complete the tour training period.
Required Skills/Abilities-Essential Functions: - Ability to deal with problems and find solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Must be able to pass a Department of the Defense fingerprint and background check, as you will be issued a Government Contractor ID card for escort purposes.
- Capable of utilizing smartphone Booking and Ticketing applications, for organizing and checking in tourists at our Visitor Center and Booth.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for the full duration of a tour (approximately 1 hour 15 minutes or 2 hours 25 minutes with Specialty Training). Tours may occur consecutively with a short break in between.
- Excellent time management skills, ability to a set schedule and managing time efficiently.
- Ability to resolve customer/client conflicts in a professional and tactful manner.
- Must remain professional at all times as you will represent STA, West Point Tours, and the United States Military at West Point.
- All tours are conducted in English, but additional language skills are a plus.
- Must attend all training sessions, and be able to give the tour successfully at the end of the 5 weeks
- Willingness to learn new software programs as needed in a timely manner.
- Ability to perform work accurately, thoroughly, and quickly within time frames allowed.
- Attend work on a regular and dependable basis
- Ability to successfully pass pre employment screenings
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job
- Ability to comply with all policies and procedures established by company
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent
Customer Service experience a plus
BYOD - Bring Your Own Device - Must have personal smart phone to be utilized for work related applications needed to perform check ins and other Tour Guide related functions-installation of company required security software may be required, reasonable stipend will be provided for use of personal device; current stipend is up to $20.00 per month
