Description:
Performs laboratory analysis on received specimens.
Provides clinical information for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Responsible for overall quality, efficiency, and safety in performing assigned technical duties.
Demonstrates proficiency and follows testing procedures and policies.
Adheres to quality assurance guidelines for equipment and work area.
Documents corrective action to any non-conforming event.
Prepares reagents and maintains an adequate supply of materials for test procedures.
Manages inventory to effectively reduce departmental waste and expense.
Exercises clinical judgment in assessing priorities and identifying problems.
Offers solutions by contacting specialists or setting up service when necessary.
Assists with review and revision of procedures and documentation related to accreditation.
Adheres to all regulatory requirements for various authorities.
Maintains clear, real-time communications shift-to-shift and with leadership.
Addresses issues, concerns, and problems which may affect patient care or operations.
Participates in planning and implementing change through staff meetings or projects.
Engages in the competency assessment program, where qualified.
Works in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Engages in an environment that contains biohazardous materials and other hazards.
Duties may involve standing, walking, and lifting light to moderately heavy loads.
