Job Summary
As a Telecommunications Technician, you will apply your basic knowledge of all areas of telecommunications and perform maintenance on telecommunications equipment.
- Installing and wiring routers / switches, coordinating for configuration and troubleshooting.
- Install and provision of transport equipment and ethernet services supporting MPLS network
- Testing, deployment, and documentation supporting system upgrades, patches, and maintenance window activities.
- Respond to system and service outages as well as storm / disaster support
- Participate in maintenance window cutovers and system grooms
- Installation and wiring of routers / switches along with coordination with multiple groups for configuration and troubleshooting.
- Effectively identify and utilizes the proper resources to develop solutions and devise new approaches to problems encountered in work assignments.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Working knowledge of fiber circuits, MPLS and other LAN / WAN data circuits.Skilled in the termination and troubleshooting of various cabling types to include fiber.Knowledge of fiber terminations, data circuits, 48V and 135Vdc power plants.Experience with DC plant systems, LAN and wireless testing, fiber optic test equipment, and various cabling types.Familiarity with cable identification, terminating cables, and Channel Banks.Prioritize safety, environmental consciousness, and attention to detail.Physical ability to lift 45 pounds and distinguish colors.Valid driver's license.Experienced using Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Spreadsheets.Proficient with Ethernet circuits and DWDM systems.
