Summary
Perform journey level work in the construction and maintenance of parks and related facilities.
Essential Functions
- Repair, maintain and install park equipment including picnic tables, benches, signs, and related fixtures;
- Assist crews in set-up for special events including moveable bleachers, staging and sound equipment, props and other equipment;
- Operate trucks, backhoes, tractors, forklifts, jackhammers and other construction equipment as required;
- Supervise the work of temporary employees making repairs at various locations on the route;
- Maintain vehicles and equipment as required;
- Purchase materials and supplies needed to accomplish daily assignments as approved. Use approved purchasing procedures;
- Troubleshoot and repair water fountains, faucets, drip lines, toilets, sinks, sprinkler heads and other plumbing fixtures as required;
- Cut and make reliable welds to repair metal objects or equipment;
- Perform related duties as required.
Qualifications
Position requires completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional one year experience in maintenance and construction of parks and related facilities; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following :

Knowledge of :
Operation and maintenance of motorized vehicles and equipment typically used in construction and maintenance;Types of hand tools and power tools typically used in construction and maintenance;Methods involved in routine plumbing, concrete construction, carpentry, and clean up of large areas.Ability to :
