About The Role

BSI Consulting Services is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Safety Consultant to support clients with complex, high-risk construction projects. This role partners closely with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to drive regulatory compliance, strong safety culture, and consistent execution of best-practice construction EHS programs.

The ideal candidate brings deep construction safety expertise, strong leadership presence, and the ability to operate independently across multiple active job sites while serving as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the on-site EHS representative ensuring general contractors and subcontractors comply with owner safety standards and applicable federal, state, and local OSHA regulations (Fed OSHA, Cal / OSHA, Title 8).
• Conduct regular construction site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and verify effective controls.
• Develop, implement, and review construction safety programs and policies (e.g., IIPP, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Excavation & Trenching, Confined Space, Hot Work, LOTO, Crane & Hoisting, Heat Illness Prevention, Emergency Response).
• Lead pre-construction and pre-task safety meetings, including Pre-Project Safety Kickoffs and Job Hazard Analyses.
• Provide oversight of high-hazard construction activities such as excavation, crane and hoisting operations, work at heights, energization / shutdowns, confined space, and hot work.
• Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and track corrective and preventive actions through completion.
• Prepare clear, concise safety reports and metrics for owners, contractors, and senior leadership.
• Partner with project teams to integrate safety into design reviews and pre-construction planning.
• Support subcontractor prequalification and ongoing performance monitoring using safety management software.
• Act as liaison with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and insurance carriers as needed.
• Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist to protect workers and the public.
• Promote positive safety culture by recognizing strong performance and engaging field leadership.
• Provide EHS leadership across multiple projects or mentor site-specific safety personnel.
