About The Role
BSI Consulting Services is seeking an experienced Senior Construction Safety Consultant to support clients with complex, high-risk construction projects. This role partners closely with owners, general contractors, and subcontractors to drive regulatory compliance, strong safety culture, and consistent execution of best-practice construction EHS programs.
The ideal candidate brings deep construction safety expertise, strong leadership presence, and the ability to operate independently across multiple active job sites while serving as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the on-site EHS representative ensuring general contractors and subcontractors comply with owner safety standards and applicable federal, state, and local OSHA regulations (Fed OSHA, Cal / OSHA, Title 8).
- Conduct regular construction site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify risks and verify effective controls.
- Develop, implement, and review construction safety programs and policies (e.g., IIPP, Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Excavation & Trenching, Confined Space, Hot Work, LOTO, Crane & Hoisting, Heat Illness Prevention, Emergency Response).
- Lead pre-construction and pre-task safety meetings, including Pre-Project Safety Kickoffs and Job Hazard Analyses.
- Provide oversight of high-hazard construction activities such as excavation, crane and hoisting operations, work at heights, energization / shutdowns, confined space, and hot work.
- Investigate incidents and near misses, identify root causes, and track corrective and preventive actions through completion.
- Prepare clear, concise safety reports and metrics for owners, contractors, and senior leadership.
- Partner with project teams to integrate safety into design reviews and pre-construction planning.
- Support subcontractor prequalification and ongoing performance monitoring using safety management software.
- Act as liaison with regulatory agencies, municipalities, and insurance carriers as needed.
- Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions exist to protect workers and the public.
- Promote positive safety culture by recognizing strong performance and engaging field leadership.
- Provide EHS leadership across multiple projects or mentor site-specific safety personnel.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
10+ years of EHS experience, preferably in construction with ground-up project exposure.Strong working knowledge of OSHA construction and general industry regulations (29 CFR 1926 & 1910; Cal / OSHA Title 8).OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification (required).Bachelor's degree in EHS, Engineering, Sciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).BCSP certification (CSP, ASP, or equivalent) preferred.Experience leading safety programs, investigations, audits, and high-risk work reviews.Proven ability to influence contractors, site leadership, and executive stakeholders.Strong written and verbal communication skills; Spanish fluency preferred.Ability to work independently, manage multiple active projects, and perform in fast-paced construction environments.Proficiency with safety management software and Microsoft Office.Willingness to travel regularly and work in active construction environments requiring PPE.Working Conditions
