An exciting position is now available at America's Socially Responsible Bank! Amalgamated Bank is seeking an experienced Commercial Banker to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and managing a portfolio of relationships as the principal relationship manager to our mission driven deposit and commercial clients. Your expertise in banking products, coupled with strong sales abilities, will be essential in creating tailored proposals to meet customer needs and enhance the region’s market share.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Perform tasks in line with the Bank's mission, vision, and core values, ensuring the delivery of prompt and excellent service to labor, sustainability, political, non- profit, philanthropic, and social advocacy clients.
  2. Acts as the principal relationship manager for new and existing clients.
  3. Develop and implement middle markets sales strategy for commercial banking products and cash management services that will result in the attainment of assigned goals including year over year loan, deposit, and non-interest income growth.
  4. Identify, analyze, structure and internally advocate for commercial credit opportunities.
  5. Execute regional and company-wide sales objectives and goals.
  6. Work with commercial banking teams across the company to prospect and effectively on-board new clients.
  7. Work closely with the portfolio management team within the Bank to ensure that existing loans within the assigned portfolio are in compliance.
  8. Establish and maintain a thorough prospect file and business strategy.
  9. Keep updated on changes to the banking environment, bank competition, and customer’s business environment.
  10. Understand the Bank’s treasury management products.
  11. Adhere to general bank regulatory procedures.
  12. Perform other duties as directed.


Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of commercial credit experience. Formal credit training is a plus.
  3. A strong working knowledge of credit, intermediary lending, underwriting, non-profit accounting, tax credits.
  4. Results oriented with strong relationship management and business development skills, with successful track record in coalition building and partnership execution.
  5. Ability to structure loans and monitor credit performance.
  6. Well-developed analytical, credit and problem-solving skills with knowledge of credit administration, analysis, and credit policy/procedure.
  7. Excellent verbal/written communication and presentation skills
  8. Interpersonal and supervisory skills

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this role is between $150,000.00 – $160,000.00. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferrable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Hybrid Work Model
Effective February 18, 2025, employees in office-based positions will be working a Hybrid work schedule consisting of three days or more, on-site per week, Monday - Thursday, although the specific days may vary by site or organization, with Friday designated as a remote-working day, unless business critical tasks require an on-site presence. This Hybrid work model does not apply to, and daily in-person attendance is required for, the contact center, branch service roles, and general services where the work to be performed is located at a Company site; positions covered by a collective-bargaining agreement (unless the agreement provides for hybrid work); or any other position for which the Company has determined the job requirements cannot be reasonably met working remotely. Please note, this Hybrid work model guidance does not apply to roles that have been designated as “remote”.
