The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has a Technical Support & Training Specialist opening in Topeka. The incumbent in this role will provide technical support in operating / navigating the electronic registration system by troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving problems to all the different users (funeral home staff, physicians, coroners, hospital birth clerks, district court clerks, attorneys) with the electronic registration system.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following :
Applies knowledge of all the different workflow processes, computer software, hardware, and procedures to solve problems. Place new users on the electronic registration system following office procedures. Promote participation in the use of the electronic registration system to users not currently utilizing the electronic registration system by attending conferences and giving presentations to various organizations.
Assist in coordinating testing activities of electronic registration system with the Registration Chief and other Vital Statistics staff to ensure system upgrades are complete and accurate.Provide proper input and feedback to the Registration Chief on any inadequacies or issues with VSIIS.Assist in providing solutions to improve and increase operating efficiency of VSIIS.Participate in meetings to discuss changes / additions to system functionality, including participating in JAD sessions with the vendor and system users.
Qualifications
- Education : High School, GED
- Licensing & Certification : Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
- Minimum Qualifications : Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency’s programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
- Preferred Qualifications : Strong experience using computer equipment and various computer software.Strong organizational abilities.Ability to work independently.Read and comprehend technical narrative material.Strong, effective oral and written communication skills.Apply analytical thinking to specific problems.Knowledge of hardware and software applications.Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
