Job Summary :
The Medical Billing Specialist supports the organization’s billing and reimbursement operations by ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing of medical claims and patient payments. This position works closely with patients, payers, and internal teams to verify insurance, collect co-pays, manage claims submissions, and resolve billing discrepancies — maintaining a high level of professionalism and customer service while upholding HIPAA and PHI compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities :
Process client and insurance information in accordance with HIPAA, PHI, and company compliance standards .
Report any compliance concerns to the Director of Operations.
Verify insurance coverage and confirm patient co-pay responsibilities .
Collect co-pays and process payments using secure payment systems.
Enter and validate patient and referral data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Confirm all sales orders and documentation (proof of delivery, signed prescriptions, acknowledgements, etc.) before claim submission.
Submit claims (electronic and paper) to payers accurately and in a timely manner.
Monitor, correct, and resubmit rejected claims as needed.
Post cash receipts accurately to the correct accounts.
Follow up on outstanding claims and payments to ensure full reimbursement.
Maintain current knowledge of payer requirements, reimbursement policies, and billing regulations.
Generate invoices, follow up with clients or payers, and document collection activities.
Provide excellent customer service by addressing billing inquiries and maintaining thorough documentation.
Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned by management.
Required Experience :
Experience in medical billing, claims processing, or healthcare accounting .
Strong understanding of insurance verification and reimbursement processes.
Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and medical billing regulations.
Proficiency with billing systems, data entry, and patient record management.
Nice-to-Have Experience :
Prior experience in a global healthcare or medical device organization.
Knowledge of Medicare / Medicaid and commercial insurance billing .
Customer service experience in a patient-facing role.
Required Skills :
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Knowledge of medical billing and insurance claim workflows.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills :
Analytical thinking and problem-solving in billing reconciliation.
Excellent organization and time management.
Adaptability in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
Education :
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Associate’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred.
