About the Role :

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Database Developer with deep expertise in MySQL and experience in designing, developing, and optimizing on-premise database systems , specifically in healthcare EMR / EHR environments . This role is critical to supporting robust, secure, and high-performance data infrastructure for clinical applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of healthcare data systems.

Key Responsibilities :

Design, develop, and optimize scalable MySQL databases for high-volume clinical data.
Build and manage on-premise MySQL instances including configuration, security, replication, and backup strategies.
Work closely with EMR / EHR application teams to support schema design, data modeling, and performance tuning.
Create and maintain stored procedures, views, and complex queries to support reporting and application features.
Implement database monitoring and performance optimization strategies.
Collaborate with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure database reliability and compliance with data security standards.
Perform ETL operations, data migration, and validation from legacy systems.
Ensure compliance with HIP nd other healthcare data regulations .
Document database processes, configurations, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

5+ years of professional experience as a Database Developer with a focus on MySQL.

experience building and maintaining on-premise database systems .

Strong understanding of healthcare data workflows , particularly within EMR / EHR systems .

Expertise in data modeling , indexing, query optimization, and schema design.

Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.

Familiarity with data privacy regulations and best practices for healthcare data (e.g., HIPAA compliance).

Experience working with ETL pipelines and data transformation.

Hands-on experience with version control (Git), Jira / Confluence, and documentation tools.

Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice to Have :

Experience with integration platforms like HL7 or FHIR.

Exposure to EMR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth.

Familiarity with monitoring tools and database performance dashboards.
