Position Summary :
Our industrial automation company is actively seeking Machine Builders to join its Assembly division. These individuals will play a critical role in building high-precision automated machinery used in a variety of manufacturing applications. This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute directly to the construction of custom-built machines from blueprint to functional delivery.
Ideal candidates will have 3–5+ years of experience assembling industrial equipment, a strong mechanical aptitude, and proficiency with precision measuring instruments and heavy equipment handling (forklifts and cranes). Candidates should be self-motivated, safety-conscious, and eager to support a fast-paced environment with upcoming project demands.
Key Responsibilities :
Read and interpret engineering drawings, detail prints, and technical documentation
Assemble complete industrial machines and sub-assemblies including :
Frame assemblies
Drive mechanisms, motors, and shafts
Drums, rolls, and bearings
Pneumatics and hydraulics
Sensors, brackets, and guarding
Use hand tools and precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) for accurate assembly to specified tolerances
Perform operational tests , make adjustments, and verify proper alignment and machine performance
Assist with shipping and receiving processes, including material handling and rigging with overhead cranes
Conduct preventative maintenance on tools and equipment in the assembly area
Maintain clean, organized, and safe workspaces per company standards
Suggest improvements to assembly processes for efficiency and quality
Understand and follow safety protocols, maintenance manuals, and SOPs
Qualifications :
3–5+ years of experience in machine building, automation assembly, or mechanical systems integration
High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications or associate’s degree preferred
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and mechanical schematics
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, tolerances, and alignment practices
Skilled in use of manual and powered hand tools
Competence with precision analog and digital measuring tools
Experience with forklift and crane operation (certifications preferred)
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Office, and ERP systems
Physical Requirements :
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Comfortable lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally
Able to safely maneuver large components and equipment using appropriate lifting techniques and equipment
Additional Notes :
This is a hands-on assembly position with no direct reports
Candidates must be comfortable with a "contract-to-hire" structure and open to working occasional overtime, including Saturdays
