The Behavioral-Health Clinician provides assessment, therapy, crisis intervention, and case coordination for individuals experiencing mental-health and / or substance-use concerns. This role delivers evidence-based treatment, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, and supports clients in developing skills to improve emotional, psychological, and social well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive intakes, mental-health assessments , risk evaluations, and diagnostic formulations using DSM-5 criteria.
Provide individual, group, and / or family therapy using evidence-based modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, trauma-informed care, etc.).
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and update them regularly.
Deliver crisis intervention , safety planning, and de-escalation during psychiatric or emotional emergencies.
Coordinate care with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, primary-care providers, and community partners.
Monitor client progress, evaluate treatment effectiveness, and maintain timely clinical documentation.
Support clients in accessing community resources such as housing, employment, and peer-support services.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case consultations, and internal trainings.
Maintain compliance with agency policies, confidentiality standards, and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, state regulations).
Qualifications
Masters degree in Social Work, Mental-Health Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy , or related field.
Current state license or licensure-eligible (e.g., LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent).
Experience in behavioral health, clinical assessment, and therapeutic interventions.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and recovery-oriented practices.
Excellent communication, documentation, and crisis-management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
Certification or experience in specialized areas (e.g., substance use, trauma therapy, children / adolescents, co-occurring disorders).
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Experience in community-based, outpatient, or residential behavioral-health settings.
