Head of School

Position Description:

The Head of School at Cedar Valley Montessori School is a key leader in fulfilling the mission and vision of the school. This person represents the school to the community and promotes its vision and programs. Ultimately responsible for and accountable to a parent-run Board of Directors, the Head of School is responsible for the execution of identified priorities. These include, but are not limited to, Financial Sustainability; Development and Management of Staff; Recruitment; Enrollment; and Community Relations. These responsibilities should be administered in a manner that is consistent with the Montessori philosophy and within the guidelines set forth by the Board of Directors.

This position will be full-time, including a reduced schedule in the summer.

In general, the Head of School must provide leadership to support family and staff success that aligns with the Montessori philosophy. The Head of School lays the foundation for continuation of services through fundraising and financially sound decisions. Cedar Valley Montessori School has a strong community that should continue to be fostered and supported. The Board President will conduct an annual performance review and provide via written copy.

Qualification/Experience:

The Cedar Valley Montessori School Board is looking for a person who meets all or most of the following criteria:

• BA or BS Degree in Education and teaching experience, early childhood preferred

• Experience teaching/leading in a Montessori school setting; Montessori certification preferred

• Proven experience in school administrative functions; management of staff and financials preferred

• Fund-raising experience preferred

• Ability to handle day to day and strategic responsibilities

• Proven communication and positive relations skills with a variety of audiences
