Position Summary
Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform manual labor related to surveying needs, such as cutting brush for lines, carrying stakes, and / or pins and right of way markers delineate features of all phase's construction project.
- Assist and learn the task of establishing elevations and or grades as required
- Install or mark neatly elevations as instructed by the Surveying Journeyman
- Assist and learn to measure distances manually with survey chains using a plumb bob and maintain survey chains to insure accuracy and consistency
- Learn to set up items associated with electronic measuring and sighting and perform these actions as needed
- Operates and maintains survey tools and instruments
Qualifications
Experience as a Surveying Helper in a Power Plant / Industrial settingMust possess knowledge skills and abilities for positionAbility to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management / supervisionField experience in chosen craft disciplineKnowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.Requirements
The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction / industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and / or crawlConstantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditionsWork irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as requiredMay be required to use ladders / mechanical platforms / manlifts / scaffold to accessrequired equipment / work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and
maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
