About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Family Practice Physician for a locum tenens assignment in California. This 120-day opportunity starts on Dec 1, 2025, and features 8-hour day shifts, Monday through Friday. The physician will provide comprehensive medical care to inmates and residents, contribute to clinical leadership, and support high standards of care within a correctional facility setting.

Responsibilities and Duties
Provide medical services including examinations, diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up care for inmates and residentsPrescribe medications and perform both minor and occasional major surgical procedures as neededDirect and evaluate operations and standards of care within the medical programParticipate in treatment team meetings, devising and reviewing individual health plansOversee unit treatment operations and support nursing staff in diagnosis and treatment protocolsMaintain professional relationships with facility, nursing, contract, and external provider staffEnsure compliance with established corporate, facility, and correctional policies and proceduresAssist in developing and improving facility medical policiesRegularly assess medical services to prevent inappropriate or duplicate careMonitor inpatient hospitalizations and facilitate early release when clinically appropriateClosely observe potential catastrophic illnesses among the patient populationPrepare and maintain accurate documentation, reports, and logsAudit medical files and ensure confidentiality of medical recordsRecommend methods for improving operational efficiency and cost‑effectivenessLiaise with outside hospital and agency administratorsFacilitate accreditation processes where applicableAccept on‑call responsibilities as requiredProvide health counseling and education individually or in group settingsClearly communicate responsibilities and accountability to subordinate staffAdditional Information
