ABOUT THE ROLE

The Senior Electrical Engineer will work closely with the Electrical Engineering team and VP of Active Tracking Technology to design and manufacture hardware for our clients. You will be responsible for the electrical engineering, design and firmware design for tracking based products. This role, at times, will require travel to evaluate technology in the field, and evaluate design processes.

This is a hybrid position, and reports on-site to our Durham, NC headquarters.

YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT SMT

• Conceptualizing, designing, testing, and documenting electrical / electronic hardware systems and their requirements.
• Conduct testing and write acceptance test procedures and qualification test plans.
• Contributing to integrated product development teams to optimize designs and verify electrical / electronic system performance.
• Providing engineering assistance and troubleshooting of existing products.
• Participating in technical evaluations.
• Taking direction from the Electrical Team Lead to execute hardware and firmware projects.
• Conforming to SMT project management and version control standards.
• Working with internal and external teams as needed to prototype and develop embedded systems.
• Contributing to technical product proposals.
• Providing engineering assistance and troubleshooting to operations staff.
