Manager Logistics II
The Logistics Manager will lead and manage multiple Terminal Managers and logistics staff.
Job Responsibilities
- Create and monitor operations budgets, identify and implement capital improvement projects
- Maintain relationships with local railroad operations personnel, local transport companies, barge service providers & unloading service providers and counterparts in industry and within your region / plant
- Maintain a productive and profitable relationship with Cemex Territory Sales Manager, Quality Control, Tech Services, Cement Operations, and Planning to ensure product availability as well as coordinate efforts with Environmental and Human Resources
- Transport freight negotiations with bulk and flatbed haulers, railroad and barge companies
- Oversee and manage the freight payable process
- Ensure operational readiness of terminals to including safety and environmental
- Adhere to all CEMEX and O.S.H.A. rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds and conduct safety audits at all terminal locations
- Lead Safety for terminal personnel and ensure that Safety is the top priority at the terminals. Meet or exceed company safety standards.
- Ensure operational readiness of terminals.
- Participate on projects outside of Logistics with other groups in Company
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree required4 years of experience in bulk material handling, Ready Mix operations, mechanical operations or logistics (load planning and dispatch)Trucking experience is preferredBackground in truck and rail loadout operations (maritime desirable)Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Customer service orientedManagement experience and ability to lead others in a stressful environmentStrong freight management and negotiations skillsDemonstrated process discipline and execution orientationStrong planning, organizing, communications and analytical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate with all levels of the organizationAbility to make sound operational decisions and provide directionProficient in MS Office, especially Excel and general PC experienceAbility to meet deadlines and set prioritiesAbility to handle multiple tasks under pressureAbility to analyze financials and make cost effective decisionsSAP experience would be a bonus (R / 3 and SCM)Ability to operate a computer proficientlyWorking Conditions
Able to work different shifts, work hours in excess of 8 per day; 40 per week, holidays and weekends as neededAbility to work with standard office / computer equipmentAbility to participate in required overnight travel on frequent basis as required; significant travel across region and sometimes outside region.Physical Requirements
