Placement within this salary range depends on

qualifications. This position is subject to the provisions of the Countys Management Appraisal and Performance Plan (MAPP).

ABOUT THE POSITION

The IT Manager I LACERA (Application Support) leads LACERAs mission-critical application support function within the Business Solutions Section. This role is responsible for the stability performance and ongoing support of LACERAs Pension Administration System a Java-based cloud-hosted platform essential to delivering retirement benefits to members. Reporting to the IT Manager II LACERA (Business Solutions) this position is responsible for managing a team of nine (9) developers and business analysts plus additional contractors and interns.

The IT Manager I LACERA (Application Support) oversees production support incident response and service-level performance in a lights-on environment where uptime and reliability are paramount. Experience working with Java is essential and while this is the primary development environment experience with COBOL and mainframe applications is also valued as LACERA is currently completing a migration of mission-critical mainframe processes to the cloud environment. The position will also play a key role in the successful integration of solutions such as case management and call center systems.

Vacancy Information : The current vacancy is in the Systems Division Business Solutions Section; however the resulting eligible register for this examination can be used to fill other vacancies in LACERA as they occur.

Work Schedule : This full-time position is required to work a 5 / 40 schedule (e.g. an eight (8) hour day Monday through Friday). LACERA offers a hybrid work environment and this position may be eligible to telework up to three (3) days per week.

Emergency Availability : This position is involved in critical business continuity operations and must be available outside of regular working hours as needed.

This position is an exempt position as defined by the Fair Labor Standards Act and not eligible for overtime

Option 1 :

A Bachelors Degree from an accredited college in Computer Science Information Systems or a closely related field and four (4) years of progressively responsible full-time paid experience in a centralized Information Technology organization

  • performing production support system administration application development and / or disaster recovery; one (1) year must have been in a supervisory capacity.

Option 2 :

Two (2) year of experience performing production support system administration application development and / or disaster recovery at the level of Information Technology Specialist I LACERA

Special Requirement Information :

  • Centralized IT organization is defined as that which is responsible under the direction or guidance of a Chief Information Officer or Chief Technology Officer for providing comprehensive IT services including analysis design acquisition and / or development implementation maintenance or support of information systems; and in which the work performed is in direct relationship to the IT requirements and initiatives of the overall company or major organization unit.
  • Experience at the level of Information Technology Specialist I LACERA must include acting as a consultant technical expert systems architect or project manager utilizing an extensive knowledge in a specialized field of information technology and application of advanced methodologies principles and concepts to coordinate major projects analyze new or existing system issues evaluate and recommend new projects and technologies and identify and resolve complex problem.
