Part Time/Adjunct Fire Science Instructor.

Savannah Technical College seeks part-time Adjunct Instructors for the Fire Science Program. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis. Day and evening hours available. Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture and/or laboratory, and may involve split teaching shifts or routine travel between campus locations.

This individual is responsible for the following duties (the list is not intended to be exhaustive):

• Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction, developing program syllabi, goals and objectives.
• Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives.
• Maintaining program certification requirements as appropriate.
• Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports.
• Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
• Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the training area.
• Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students.
• Work diligently to maximize student placements in this field or related fields.
• Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days between campus locations.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Fire Officer or Fire Fighter Certifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Fire Science from an accredited post-secondary institution.
• Certification as a Fire Instructor/Inspector.
• Five (5) or more years’ of fire service employment.
• Teaching experience, demonstrated skills in training and/or personnel development.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in the use of MS Office, Word and Excel; Banner proficiency preferred.
• Experience utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS); experience with the Blackboard LMS platform preferred.
