DESCRIPTION
The Department of Technology and Innovation has an immediate opening for one (1) full-time unclassified Data Privacy Program Coordinator (Community Program Specialist III). This grant-funded short term (ends 2028) position is supported by a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that enables the City of Long Beach to expand its Digital Rights Platform. The Data Privacy Program Coordinator will serve as the City's lead on the NSF project, coordinating project management activities to research and develop an app that empowers residents to manage and control their privacy preferences.
In addition to project management, the Coordinator will provide targeted support to the City's Data Privacy Office (DPO), assisting with Privacy Evaluations, managing inventories of City technologies and hosting community education events and trainings to advance transparency and digital skills building. This role will combine community engagement, education, grant administration, and program implementation with specialized technical support in data privacy.
The Coordinator's work will directly contribute to building trust, equity, and transparency in the City's privacy and AI initiatives. By supporting NSF-funded enhancements, this position ensures that residents have accessible, user-friendly tools and resources to understand civic technology and exercise their digital rights.

EXPERIENCE :
A Master's Degree in degree from an accredited college or university in public administration, communications, information systems, data science, or a related field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required professional experience.
