Machinist II

Job Summary : This position operates various machines to produce parts and components used in the manufacturing of heavy equipment for the mining industry.

Job Responsibilities :

Set up and operate conventional and / or CNC machine tools such as lathes mills drill presses grinders saws and presses.

Read and interpret work orders drawings specifications and safety rules to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned equipment.

Inspect parts and equipment for defects or malfunctions; repair or replace parts as needed.

Use hand and power tools to clear chucks clean excess metal from part surfaces and remove finished parts from machines.

Maintain production records keep time records and maintain quality standards.

Keep all machining areas clean orderly and free from hazards.

Perform preventive maintenance on assigned equipment by lubricating changing cutting tools and making minor repairs.

Qualifications :

High school diploma or equivalent GED.

Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Valid drivers license required.

Be able to lift 50 pounds unassisted.

Have manual dexterity sufficient to reach / handle items and work controls and perceive attributes of objects and materials.

Work safely at all times while utilizing good housekeeping practices.

Be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Job Description :

As a CNC Machinist at FLSmidth you will be responsible for operating and maintaining CNC machines to produce high-precision parts and components. You will work from blueprints CAD models and detailed work instructions to ensure that the products meet the highest standards of quality and performance. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret technical drawings set up machines make adjustments and inspect finished products.

This position is for 1st shift the hours are 6am - 2pm Mon - Fri. Overtime is possible.

Key Responsibilities :

• Set up and operate CNC turning machines (vertical horizontal 2-axis).
• Program adjust and optimize CNC machine operations.
• Perform quality checks using measuring instruments such as calipers micrometers and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to machines tooling and processes.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area adhering to safety protocols and company standards.
• Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve processes and efficiency.
• Inspect and maintain tooling and machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
• Follow all company policies and procedures for safety quality control and machine maintenance.
