Fire Protection Designer (Sprinkler Systems)

Fire Protection Designer – Waltham, MA

~ $95,000–$115,000/year DOE | Direct Hire | Hybrid Schedule

An established mechanical contractor is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to support sprinkler system design for projects in life sciences, healthcare, and higher education. Projects range in size from $50K to $20M and are located throughout the Greater Boston area.

Responsibilities:

• Design layouts for sprinkler systems in coordination with other MEP trades
• Perform hydraulic calculations and generate stock listings
• Attend coordination meetings (virtual and/or in person)
• Conduct site surveys and hydrant flow tests
• Support estimating team with review and preparation of bid drawings

Qualifications:

• ~ 3+ years of sprinkler design and hydraulic calculation experience
• Strong technical knowledge of fire protection systems
• Working knowledge of NFPA standards
• NICET certification preferred
• Experience with AutoSPRINK preferred
• Previous field installation experience a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and efficient
• Strong communication skills and commitment to client satisfaction

Additional Information:

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible)
• Work Environment: Hybrid (some remote flexibility), not fully remote
• Travel: Occasional local site visits
• Overtime: May be required on occasion
• Work Attire: Business casual
