Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a busy Emergency Room position in California, requiring CA RN licensure and strong acute care skills.
Responsibilities
Position is within an acute care hospital Emergency Room setting with 24+ bedsPatient population is a mix of adults and pediatric patients, averaging 150 visits per dayNurses maintain a 1 : 4 patient ratioCommon cases include acute and emergent conditions, with some psych holds and care for a large homeless populationModerate conscious sedation is performed and related competency testing is requiredUses Cerner FirstNet EMR and Phillips telemetry monitoring equipmentVentilator management is required and hospitalist / intensivist support is onsite 24 / 7Navy scrubs are required for all shifts12-hour night shifts with varying start times at 5pm or 7pmWeekend shifts are required every other weekendNo floating requiredBlock scheduling requests cannot be accommodatedDuties involve rapid triage, patient care coordination, and management of acute and emergent conditions in a high-volume EROrientation consists of two floor-specific shifts in addition to standard onboardingCharge nurse and PCT support available on unitWork alongside pharmacy and respiratory therapy teams available 24 / 7Candidates may not have been employed by affiliated health systems (including Dignity or CHI) within the past yearHoliday shifts are worked as part of the core staff rotationFirst-time travelers are not specifically excludedRequirements
