Salary and Benefits
Starting salary for newly appointed Border Patrol Agents ranges from $51,632 to $92,219 based on grade level (GL-5 / GL-7). You will receive access to extensive federal employment benefits, including health, dental, and various insurance plans, a generous leave program, and the option to participate in the Thrift Savings Plan, akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k).
Recruitment Incentive
Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents are eligible for incentives of up to $20,000. The first $10,000 is granted upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, while the remaining $10,000 is available for selecting a prioritized duty location.
Retention Incentive
New Border Patrol Agents may qualify for up to $40,000 in additional incentives spread across their first four years.
Duty Locations
Be ready for potential assignments at critical locations, including the Southwest Border. The U.S. Border Patrol will determine duty assignments based on operational needs, which may differ from preferred locations. Relocation may be required.
This position offers a career progression path through GL-5, GL-7, GL-9, GS-11, and GS-12, with eligibility for promotions based on the successful completion of one year in each grade.
