Assistant Foreperson - Shipping (Bailey Nurseries)

Position Title : Assistant Foreperson

Department :   Shipping Minnesota Propagation

Reports To :  Foreperson / Department Head

FLSA Status :  Non-Exempt

Position Summary :   This position plays a key role in the daily operations of the shipping department. This position works closely with the Shipping Foreperson to guide and motivate the shipping team, ensuring that all plants are prepared, packaged, and shipped accurately, safely, and with care. The ideal candidate leads by example—fostering a respectful, collaborative, and positive work environment.  The position involves organizing crews, monitoring and improving workflow, maintaining metrics and standards to help the team achieve its goals.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment :  This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. The employee must regularly lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to weather conditions such as heat, cold, rain, and wind. PPE may be required in certain work areas.
