GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE :

The Environmental, Health, Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing and supporting relevant environmental, health, safety, and sustainability programs within the North American organization. This includes collaborating with a team of professionals, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The EHS Specialist will work closely with front line employees and their leadership to maintain a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainability.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Support the organization’s compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations within North America.
• Maintain relevant EHS programs and policies and ensure they are effectively implemented.
• Develop and facilitate comprehensive EHS training for all levels of the organization.
• Participate in the incident management processes including investigations of workplace accidents, near miss and unsafe condition reporting, and environmental incidents.
• Coordinate with other members of the EHS team to ensure consistent implementation of policies and procedures.
• Stay current with evolving regulations, industry trends, and best practices.
• Monitor for conditions affecting the organization’s EHS performance to assess the effectiveness of those programs and make recommendations for improvements.
• Support sustainability initiatives to reduce the organization’s environmental footprint, promote energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and the use of sustainable materials.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Associate’s degree in a technical or scientific field relevant to EHS or the railroad industry.

Licenses / Certifications : Must hold or obtain within 90 days of employment and be able to continue to maintain the following certifications :

Experience : 2+ years of experience in Safety, maintenance of way, or railroad industry.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Education : Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field relevant to EHS or the railroad industry.

Licenses / Certifications : Professional safety or environmental certifications : OHST / CHST, CHMM, ASP, GSP, CSP, CIH

Compensation :

Loram determines compensation based on factors such as skills, competencies, education, and / or experience. Certain positions may be eligible for an annual bonus and paid time off in addition to base compensation.
