We are partnering with a growing apparel company seeking a Human Resources Manager to lead and manage all HR functions. The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day HR operations, enhancing employee experience, and ensuring compliance. The role requires a hands-on leader who can ensure all HR processes are executed consistently and in alignment with policies.
Responsibilities:
- Manage recruiting process by defining role requirements with department managers, posting job openings, reviewing incoming resumes, forwarding qualified candidates to respective department managers, conducting or assisting with preliminary interviews, and scheduling follow-up interviews with managers
- Conduct reference checks and other pre-employment activities
- Partner with external recruiting agencies as needed
- Execute the onboarding process for all new hires, including preparing offer letters, onboarding documents, and welcome kits
- Provide orientation on training programs, office procedures, and use of the Company's server
- Maintain consistent employee documentation practices (performance reviews, disciplinary procedures, HR files)
- Serve as primary on-site contact for all employee questions, concerns, and workplace issues, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution or escalation
- Collaborate on various projects and strategic initiatives related to business process workflow enhancements and policy development
- Partner with management on employee engagement, retention initiatives, and HR-related projects
- Handle and/or assist management with workplace complaints, grievances, investigations, and disciplinary actions
- Maintain and update Employee Handbook as needed based on legal updates or revised Company processes and ensure consistent enforcement of policies
- Monitor compliance with federal, New York State, and New York City labor and employment laws, HR policies, and internal procedures to ensure ongoing compliance
- Maintain and update a catalogue of accurate job descriptions for all Company positions
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree
- 4+ yrs direct HR experience
- Strong knowledge of federal, NYS and NYC employment laws
- Experience in small to mid-size companies
Preferred Skills: - HR certification (SHRM-CP, CHRP, etc.)
- Experience in apparel, manufacturing, or fashion
Compensation: $95,000-105,000 Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
