Position : Cook / Server Food Services

Required Qualifications :

High school diploma or high school equivalency. Experience in the food service industry, preferably in a school setting. Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures for cashiers.

Primary Purpose :

Assist in the operation of the Food Service Department so a positive school climate can be realized.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

Comply with State Health Regulations and State Child Nutrition Regulations.

Assist in the preparation of and serving student breakfasts and / or lunches at assigned school site.

Remove food from carriers, place on serving line and courteously serve to students and staff.

Maintain a clean serving area and work area at all times; keep dishes washed and sinks clean.

Clean tables after student use.

Wash all pots and pans returned to the Central Kitchen from the satellite schools.

Place all posts and pans into food carriers for return to the central kitchen.

Clean the inside and outside of each food carrier daily.

Report any defective carrier immediately to the Site Food Service Manager.

Clean refrigerators and freezer per schedule.

Operate the dishwasher in central kitchen.

Respects the privacy of confidential matters relative to students, patrons and personnel.

Travel to serving job; at an assigned school site and time.

Plans menu adaptations for children with special dietary needs.

Uses good judgment at all times.

Attends food service meetings.

Comply with School Board Policy.

Computer literacy for cashiers.

Ability to understand food labels and concrete instructions.

Knowledge of accounting procedures for cashiers.

Physical Requirements :

Good health and high energy level.

Some bending and stooping.

Ability to reach above shoulder level.

Some climbing of short ladders.

Ability to tolerate a stressful environment.

Ability to lift objects weighing 20 lbs or more.

Coordinates With : Site Food Service Kitchen Manager, District Kitchen Manager and Food Service Supervisor.

Reports To : Site Food Service Kitchen Manager, District Kitchen Manager and Food Service Supervisor.
