Director Tax Counsel

Purpose :

Athene is looking for a Director Tax Counsel to join our team. This position will report to the AVP Tax Counsel.

Accountabilities :

• Assist with IRS and state tax audits and inquiries, ensuring that the Company timely and accurately responds to all requests
• Assist with analysis and responses to new federal and state tax proposals
• Advise Tax Department on legal and regulatory developments and questions that arise in connection with preparing the Company's federal and state tax returns
• Assist on tax matters relating to potential mergers and acquisitions and reinsurance transactions
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with Tax Department management and staff, as well as Finance, Legal, Actuarial, Human Resources and Compliance personnel
• Provide support on any tax matters that impact the Company's financial statements
• Provide support to the AVP Tax Counsel and VP Tax & Senior Counsel on tax planning and compliance matters
