Maintenance Technician - NightsMATALCO - We are North America's largest independent aluminum billet and slab provider, using recycled aluminum and state-of-the art technology. We are currently seeking candidates to fill a night shift opening at our Franklin, KY plant for our
multi-craft maintenance department, a team that's key to keeping us up and running!
You will: - Work safely and smartly, following our procedures, safety protocols, and training.
- Install, inspect, adjust, and repair equipment.
- Use your expertise when responding to production needs and equipment failures.
- Recommend improvements to processes and procedures.
- Perform all preventative and predictive maintenance and repairs to all equipment, ensuring proper service of equipment to maintain its planned lifespan.
- Monitor operations through PM checks to anticipate and prevent production loss due to equipment failure.
- Respond quickly to breakdowns and safety concerns, resolving issues and keeping downtime to a minimum.
- Report deviations, out of service or non-conforming equipment or operations for the team to make corrections or adjustments to processes and equipment.
- Maintain a spare parts warehouse to ensure all crucial parts and components, including consumables, are on hand at a moment's notice.
Preferred Qualifications - Post-secondary education in automation, controls, engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Min. 2 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment or foundry industry or maintenance experience within an aluminum or hot metal industry.
- Excellent understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics, combustion, electrical and mechanical maintenance.
- Excellent working knowledge of PM.

- Experience maintaining cranes and performing crane inspections.
- Strong math, reading, and blueprint reading skills.
- Solid understanding of PLCs as well as PM software utilization.
- Excellent critical thinking skills, essential to fixing production equipment and manufacturing system issues.
- Physical endurance and the ability to manage several urgent tasks at once.
- Reliable and stable work attendance.
- Basic PC understanding preferred and an ability to learn Windows/web-based programs.
- Capable of safely rigging and moving some heavy equipment components.
- Hands on experience using preventative maintenance system software.
- A team player capable of working with minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills with operators, leaders, and vendors/partners.
- OSHA/KYOSH helpful.
When will you work? - We are a 24/7 company. Our maintenance team works 12-hour shifts on a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, which means you will work some weekends and holidays. It also means you are generally scheduled to work 15 days a month and off 15 days a month. We are filling a 6p-6a shift.
Where will you work, and what's the physical environment like? - Our production facility in Franklin, KY.
- High frequency visually monitoring production processes for quality defects and of HMI and PLC panels.
- Regular frequency of visually monitoring scrap conditions/types.
- Frequent data entry of necessary information.
- Frequent visual and audio monitoring of processes.
- Low frequency of hot metal work, confined space entry, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Low frequency using forklift/mobile equipment.
- Low frequency lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, walking, and reaching into/working in tight areas.
- Low frequency climbing over four feet.
- Low frequent operation of overhead crane.
- Mostly indoor work with exposure to outside elements, including some outdoor work.
- Long-term exposure to variable ambient temperatures and to loud noises.
- Some exposure to fumes.
- Some work in confined spaces.
