ASCP Certified Medical Technologist

We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team in a regional healthcare facility serving the Southern United States. This full-time, on-site role involves operating and maintaining various laboratory equipment to ensure accurate and timely test results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform quality control procedures and maintain detailed records to ensure laboratory standards are met.
• Document workload, billing information, and test results accurately in logs and computer systems.
• Receive, log, and process patient specimens, including centrifuging to separate components for analysis.
• Conduct special chemistry tests and prepare specimens with specific reagents following established protocols.
• Identify chemical compositions and concentrations, observing changes during testing.
• Adhere to standard precautions to maintain a safe testing environment.
• Calculate and document test results, promptly notifying healthcare providers of critical values.
• Verify specimen identity and test procedures to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
• Stay informed on new testing methods, products, and instrumentation to maintain current knowledge.
• Communicate effectively within the department and with supervisors to manage workload and urgent testing needs.
• Understand and apply age-specific normal ranges for test results, including pediatric and adult variations.
• Comply with all regulatory standards including CLIA, OSHA, and The Joint Commission.
• Adapt to changing workloads and staffing needs across shifts and sections.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and values of the organization.

Education: A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field is required. Certification by ASCP or equivalent is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing a variety of diagnostic tests is highly desirable.

Requirements: Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance is essential.
