CNC Swiss Machine (STAR) Set-up Tech

MACHINE (STAR) SET-UP TECHNICIAN

BASIC PURPOSE :

Set-up and operation of machine, to include bar feeder, Star SR20 & SR105.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS :

Requires two years minimum of setup experience on multi axis CNC lathes.

FUNCTIONAL SCOPE :

Set-up and operate all machining functions. Machine quality high precision components.

• PRINT READING

Responsibility : To understand, interpret and apply customer drawings

To understand and interpret customer drawings

To apply to program, set-up and inspection

To have a working knowledge of different symbols and indicators of measurement on quality standards.

Geometric tolerancing knowledge.

Responsibility : To inspect parts to ensure accuracy of parts to customer drawing.

To provide first-piece inspection

To provide in-process inspection on a daily basis.

III. MACHINE OPERATION

Responsibility : Offset, Program Edit, General Maintenance, Tool Changes

To adjust and fine tune running machines when necessary

To provide maintenance - filling oil tan, weigh oil, etc.

Replace broken or worn tools, drills, etc.

Provide technical support to machinists

Responsibility : Bar Feed, Machine, Collet and Bushing, Gang Tools, Power Tools,

Front Drilling, C-Spindle & Ejector Pin, Back Tools.

Understand and setup bar feeder

Setup all aspects of CNC machine accurately and efficiently

Provide technical support and training

Responsibility : Edit as necessary to ensure operation

Understand G-functions and M-codes

Edit programs

Proofing programs

Interpreting program and tool movement

Responsibility : Make accurate and functional tools, drills, etc. for CNC Machines

Fully understand tool geometry's

VII. PRODUCTION

Responsibility : Maintain optimum machine utilization, and produce quality

work.

Produce quality components

To set-up and maintain machines to run established production hours.

VIII. OTHER

Responsibility : Assist in any additional responsibility as defined by the

Manufacturing Engineers to ensure quality manufacturing of all machines.
