• Unit : ACU - Combo of Telemetry, medsurg, and DOU
• # beds : 50 beds
• Certs : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Ratios : 1 to 5 medsurg, 1 to 4 tele, 1 to 3 for DOU
• EMR : Cerner
• Charge Nurse : Yes
• Nurse Aides : depends on census
• Weekend Requirement : every other
• Holidays : one major and one minor
• Scrub Color : navy
• Tele Monitors : phillips - they do have a monitor tech, NURSES MUST BE ABLE TO READ STRIPS
• Do nurses read strips : yes
• Drips : yes - cardizem, amoidarone (non-titrating)
• Vents : yes - bipap or cpap, DOU will sometime get chronic vents, travelers will not work DOU
• Hospitalist or Intensivist in house : Yes - on call after hours, hospitalist is shared between SJRMC and SJPVH
• IV Team : No
• RT 24 / 7 : yes
• Pharmacy 24 / 7 : yes
• Shifts : 12 hr shifts, 6 : 45am-6 : 45pm, 6 : 45pm-6 : 45am, self scheduling but not guaranteed
• Floating : ACU will float between medsurg and tele
• Floor specific orientation : one shift at each facility
• Common diagnosis / Types of patients : post surgical, ortho, cardiac
