Highway Construction Inspector
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Highway Construction Inspector for our Albuquerque, NM office. Your Impact
- Perform construction inspection and observation of highway and / or bridge construction work for compliance with NMDOT, Municipality, County, and Tribal plans, specifications and contract documents
- Interpret plans, specifications and contract documents to verify contract compliance
- Prepare daily work reports; prepare and maintain documentation of contractor work performed; observe and perform materials testing and inspect traffic control based on construction plans and specifications
- Perform sampling and testing of concrete in conformance with NMDOT and other specifications and procedures
- Perform moisture / density testing of soils, base course and Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) in conformance with NMDOT Specifications and procedures using a portable moisture / density gauge
- Perform sampling of soils, base course, aggregates and HMA in conformance with NMDOT specifications and procedures
- Document work item quantities accepted and approved for payment; report pay quantities using SiteManager or other electronic means prepare and review reports and documentation
- Verify contractor compliance with project safety procedures; Inspect and document contractor traffic control set-ups
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
High School DiplomaMinimum of 5 years of relevant experience in construction, construction inspection or construction testingValid state driver's licenseFamiliar with construction inspection principles, field inspection practices, process, methods and techniquesFamiliar with relevant construction codes, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirementsSound interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to a technical and non-technical audienceSound self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environmentAbility to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, and comply with company policiesAbility to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectivesAnalytical mindset to exercise sound judgement in evaluating situations and making decisionsBasic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, technology, spreadsheets, and toolsAbility to provide input and feedback to others in the field such as subcontractors and work colleagues to consistently complete tasks safely, efficiently, and accurately according to specificationsProven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policiesAbility to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweekOccasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirementsPreferred Qualifications :
