About the Role

Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We’re looking for a business-minded Director, Assistant General Counsel - Commercial, with deep experience drafting and negotiating customer and partner agreements with leading global and domestic organizations. This legal team member will report directly to the Associate General Counsel, Head of Commercial Legal, and will be a key partner and liaison to other impacted Fivetran departments and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a critical individual contributor first and foremost, but shall have the ability to coach and lead junior legal team members.

This is a full-time, hybrid position based out of our Oakland, CA office. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

What You’ll Do

• Review, revise and negotiate commercial contracts, including customer and partner agreements
• Serve as one of the designated (primary) legal contacts on the commercial legal team to Fivetran’s entrepreneurial sales team, including leading sales team education, training and communications related to any changes customer agreements
• Serve as one of the primary legal contacts on the commercial legal team, providing strategic guidance and oversight on partner contracting, enablement, and process improvement initiatives
• Create and update commercial legal team playbooks to help drive alignment with internal stakeholders
• Own and improve key template documents, including periodic revisions and improvements, and help operationalize templates into the contracts management and automation tool
• Liaise with Fivetran’s product team to understand how product updates may impact existing or new customer agreements
• Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices for commercial contract lifecycle management, ensuring efficient review, negotiation, and approval processes
• Build and maintain strong relationships with external counsel, alternative legal service providers, and manage outside commercial legal resources effectively
• Stay abreast of evolving legal trends and industry best practices in the SaaS and data privacy space
• Complete other special projects given your interest areas and the needs of a rapidly scaling company and team
