Position Summary:
The Provo Marriott Hotel is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting & Accounts Payable Specialist to oversee the hotel’s accounts payable functions and assist with other key accounting responsibilities. This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial accuracy, vendor relationships, and supporting overall financial operations in alignment with hotel standards and corporate policies.
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a solid understanding of accounting principles, and the flexibility to assist with a variety of financial tasks as assigned by the General Manager (GM) or Director of Finance (DOF).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and process all accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, approvals, data entry, and timely payments.
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date vendor files and ensure proper documentation is retained for audit purposes.
- Prepare and process month-end accruals related to payables.
- Assist with month-end closing procedures and financial reporting.
- Support daily accounting operations, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with Marriott policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Collaborate with departments to ensure purchase orders and invoices align with budget and coding standards.
- Serve as a liaison with vendors, corporate accounting, and hotel management.
- Provide training and oversight to accounting clerks or support staff as needed.
- Assist in audits and provide supporting documentation and reports as requested.
- Perform other accounting or administrative duties as assigned by the GM or DOF.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounts payable or hotel accounting.
- Familiarity with Marriott financial systems is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Work Environment:
- Full-time, on-site position.
- Monday to Friday schedule with flexibility to work additional hours as needed to meet deadlines or operational needs.
