Description of job:

SnapCare is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist (Surg Tech) to join a dynamic operating room team in Hartford, CT. The Surg Tech will play a vital role in supporting surgeons during a wide range of surgical procedures by preparing the operating room, ensuring surgical instruments and equipment are sterile and ready for use, and maintaining a safe and efficient surgical environment. This position is ideal for professionals who excel in fast-paced procedural settings and are committed to delivering exceptional perioperative care.

Qualifications:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential preferred (NBSTSA)
• Minimum 1 year of recent operating room experience in a hospital or surgical center
• Strong understanding of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and operating room safety protocols
• Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and adapt quickly during complex or emergent procedures
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
• BLS certification required

Responsibilities:

• Prepare operating rooms for surgery, ensuring all instruments, supplies, and equipment are properly sterilized and set up
• Assist surgeons and perioperative teams during procedures by passing instruments, retracting tissues, and managing sterile supplies
• Maintain strict sterile technique and monitor for any breaks in sterility throughout the procedure
• Anticipate surgeon needs and adjust quickly to procedural changes
• Handle surgical specimens appropriately and ensure accurate labeling and transport
• Operate and troubleshoot surgical equipment such as suction devices, electrocautery units, and powered instruments
• Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts in collaboration with the circulating nurse to ensure patient safety
• Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent surgical cases
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, circulating nurses, and other OR team members to ensure efficient workflow and safe patient outcomes
